Day 1 Cochin-Alleppey (195 kms, 6hrs): Arrive Cochin by flight or train. On arrival, meet and greet by Concept Voyages representative and transfer to Alleppey Beach, Alleppey is one of the most important tourist centres in the state, with a large network of inland canals earning it the sobriquet
"Venice of the east
". The large network of canals provides Alleppey its lifeline. Alleppey was one of the busiest centres of trade in the past with one of the best known ports along the Malabar coast. Even today it retains its charm as the centre for Coir carpet industries and prawn farming. Alleppey the ideal headquarters for backwater tourism as well as for visits to the lovely church filled town of Kottayam, and the town of Aranmula, famous for its historic Aranmula Snake Boat Race which is an annual event. Day 2 Alleppey: After breakfast, free day at leisure at Alleppey Beach. Overnight stay at resort.
Day 3 Alleppey-houseboat pier: After breakfast, check out from the resort & proceed to Alleppey for checking in to the Houseboat for cruising around the narrow backwater canals. What is truly magical about a houseboat ride is the breathtaking view of the untouched and otherwise inaccessible rural Kerala that it offers. The houseboats have all the creature comforts of a good hotel including furnished bedrooms, modern toilets, cozy living rooms, a kitchen and even a balcony for angling. Meals would be cooked on board and supplemented with fresh fish from the Backwaters. Today, the tradition is still continued and the food from the local cuisine is served by the Kuttanad localities, on board! This cruise amidst marvelous mangrove forests, captivating coconut canopies, swaying palms, mangrove forests, and pulsating paddy fields sprinkled with enchanting waterways and canals decked with white lilies, can be quite a rejuvenating experience for the weary traveler.
